Sandra Passinhas
(Professor at University of Coimbra)

Nationality: Portuguese

Academic Curriculum: Sandra Passinhas holds a Graduation in Law (1995) and a Master degree (1999) by the University of Coimbra. She also holds a PhD from the European University Institute, in Florence, (2010) and a PhD from the University of Coimbra (2016).

Professional Activity: Sandra Passinhas is a Professor at the University of Coimbra and at the University Lusíada, in Porto. Her main areas of research are Consumer Law, Contracts, and Property Law. She is the author of numerous publications and she has participated in several conferences, seminars, and workshops on Consumer Law. She has participated in several research projects in the field of Consumer Law, namely in the project Consumo Colaborativo y Derecho de la Competencia, from 2017-2019, and in the project Fundamental Rights in Courts and Regulation (FRICoRe), funded by the Justice Programme of the European Union (in progress).

She is the executive director of the Consumer Law Centre of the Law Faculty of the University of Coimbra. She has also been an arbitrator in consumer disputes.

Maria José Azar-Baud
(Professor at University Paris XI)

Nationality: French and Argentinian

Academic Curriculum: Maria José Azar-Baud a law graduate from the Universidad Católica de Santiago del Estero – Magna Cum Laude. She has a double doctorate from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University of Buenos Aires. Her thesis deals with Collective actions in Consumer law in France and Argentina, under a Comparative Law perspective (Dalloz, in 2013).  

Professional Activity: Maria José is an Associate Professor at the University of Paris-Saclay and lectures at University 1 Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne, University 2 Panthéon-Assas, amongst other international universities and training schools for lawyers and judges. Her main areas of research are: Consumer Law, International Contracts and Comparative Procedural Law. She is also the author of numerous publications written in English, French and Spanish. She also founded the Observatory of group actions in France, has been a lawyer at the Bar of Buenos Aires and is now admitted to the Paris Bar. 


Julia Suderow
(Professor at Deusto University)

Nationality: Spanish and German

Academic curriculum: Julia Suderow is a law graduate from the University of Hannover, has a Master’s degree by the University of Hannover and by the University of Louvain, and has a doctorate by the Carlos III University of Madrid, with a specialization in Competition and International Private Law.

Professional activity: Julia teaches as an Associate Professor at the University of Deusto, in the areas of Private International Law and International Trade Law and is the author of numerous publications, written in English, German and Spanish. She is a national coordinator of the Permanent Observatory for the Application of Competition Rules at the University of Trento. Julia is a lawyer specialized in Competition Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, International Arbitration and Private International Law and is the founding partner of 3C Compliance that aims to provide compliance advisory services to companies.

Carolina Ramalho dos Santos

Nationality: Portuguese

Academic curriculum: Carolina Santos is a law graduate from Universidade Europeia (2019). Currently she is enrolled in the Scientific Master’s Program, with a specialization in Law and Economics, from the Law School of the University of Lisbon (2020). Carolina has attended the Postgraduate Course in Competition and Regulation Law (2018-2019), Institute of Economic, Financial and Tax Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and the Postgraduate Course in Public Procurement (2019-2020), European Institute of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

Professional activity: Carolina teaches as an Assistant Professor at Universidade Europeia, since 2019, lecturing courses such as Economic Law, Competition and Regulation Law and Administrative Procedural Law. In 2019, she interned with the Restrictive Practices Department of the Portuguese Competition Authority.
