Announcements 30.10.2023

Ius is very honored to announce 4 new relevant facts, which reflect the robustness of our advocacy for European consumers, the widening of our outreach and the strengthening of our stakeholder engagement.

1. Professor Julia Suderow, who has brilliantly served as President of the Board, while remaining committed to the protection of consumers in the EU and intending to continue to collaborate with Ius, will now focus on independently pursuing her legal practice and service to the Academia, having ceased her functions on October 25th, 2023, as member and president of the Board of Ius.

2. Professor Maria José Azar-Baud, former Vice-President, honored Ius by accepting to undertake the role of interim President as from October 25th, 2023: an unmistakable name in consumer protection and consumer redress, not only in Europe but also in the Americas. President and founder of the international Observatory of Class Actions, Professor Azar-Baud’s commitment to collective redress spans from research in various fields related to class actions (consumer, environment, data, discrimination, public health and public interest litigation) to advising NGOs as well as governmental agencies.

3. Ius welcomes the new member of the Board, Professor Carmen Herrero, a world-renowned specialist in Consumer and Competition Law, from the University of Valladolid. Professor Herrero, who has a very extensive peer-reviewed work in what is undoubtedly an outstanding academic career, took on the challenge of contributing to the continued expansion of Ius and most particularly Ius’ liaison with the Academia and the development of the Legal Sciences.

4. With an eye on 2024, Ius continuously searches for meeting the highest standards of professionalism, advocacy, outreach, and transparency. So we proudly announce that Ius is now an official «Interest Representative» before the EU institutions – European Parliament, Council of the European Union, and the European Commission -, following its successful application to the Transparency Register.
